Brac stone stands out for its quality and beauty. Some of the most monumental monuments such as Diocletian’s Palace in Split and many churches and palaces throughout Dalmatia were created from this stone.
The stone from Brač is known all over the world. It was used to decorate the lobby of the United Nations building in New York, the Pope’s altar in the Vatican – something that the people of Brač, as well as the rest of Croatia, are very proud of.
It is said that parts of the White House in Washington were also built from Brac stone, but there is no credible evidence for this.
